Inhalation Drug Delivery
Inhalation drug delivery is mainly used for the treatment of lung conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, cystic fibrosis, bacterial infection as well as lung tumours through topical action on the lungs (Kleinstreuer, 2011). The fact that inhaled drugs can reach the blood system can be a drawback for lung therapy as it increases the risk of side effects. This is an issue for the delivery of certain inhaled active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) such as corticosteroids which increase the risk of osteoporosis in particular for postmenopausal women (Lipworth, 1999).

A day in the life of an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer
I had already set my sights on the noble goal of making a contribution in writing to the world of engineering, when my fellow university alumnus (a.k.a. ‘super senior’) asked me to write about the day in the life of an engineer. It was needless to say that I jumped at the opportunity. The term ‘university life’ contains two words that should never be put together. Freshmen everywhere may find this particular idea something of an enigma, but my best advice would be to enjoy it while it lasts. Engineering can be quite a fulfilling and rewarding vocation with the right attitude and a solid foundation in the basics of the discipline.
Metrology Series II: The Effects of Measurement System Analysis on Type I and II Errors
Imagine a society where type errors are the norm. As a society, we strive to evoke a sense of fairness and value a system based on a set of prescribed rules. As such, lawbreakers are punished for their ill actions. Now, envision a society where the majority of law offenders receive a non-guilty verdict, while law abiding citizens are punished for crimes they did not commit. This example is analogous to type I and II errors.
